EAPL-CFA gaining seats in Lithuanian parliamentary election

11 October 2016

In the first round of Lithuania's parliamentary election 2016, ACRE member party Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania – Christian Families Alliance (EAPL-CFA) has won seven seats.

ACRE member party Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania – Christian Families Alliance (EAPL-CFA) has won seven seats in the Lithuanian Seimas election 2016, five from the national list (about 70,000 votes or 5,8 percent of the voters) and two in the single member constituencies.

Despite all the technical problems of this parliamentary election, the achieved result is another evidence for the great success of the Polish community in Lithuania, which is led by ACRE member Valdemar Tomaševski MEP.

He said yesterday:

We will thank God for giving us determination and strength in carrying out such a wide and honest electoral campaign.

The second round of the national election will take place in two weeks in the single member constituencies, and EAPL-CFA will offer candidates in three of these constituencies.

The Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania – Christian Families Alliance is a Christian democratic political party, which represents the Polish minority in Lithuania.
